Instructional Design and more...

I have over 17 years of Instructional Design experience, applying my skills to highly technical jobs, soft skills, sales, and developmental disability training. I pride myself in my ability to evaluate, and recommend course content or curricula changes and delivery methods based on adult learning theory, current or future performance requirements, feasibility, and cost.

I move between SAM, Agile, and ADDIE effortlessly depending on the organizations preferences, but I would have to describe myself as preferring an Agile approach. I don't want to let great get the in the way of good. I could tweak projects for months but why let that stall a launch. I believe in getting good resources to users when and where they need it to do their best work. I analyze need, I create, I roll out, I evaluate, I redesign, I roll out. You get where I am going with this approach; continuous learning, continuous improvement. 

Leadership

I have led a team of instructional designers and trainers I enjoy coaching, mentorship and working with a team to reach a shared goal. While leading my team, I balanced team workloads and resources. I prioritized projects, and facilitated design and development tasks and deliverables to ensure timely deployment to the business. I have served on a global instructional design community of practice, creating standards and best practices for ILTs and online training content. 

LMS Administration

In a previous role, I managed a new LMS selection initiative. I led the subsequent integration of the new LMS with our HRIS system. I played a leadership role in the new LMS implementation. I managed the move of existing courses, project managed the creation of new content, and learning paths. I created and executed a governance strategy to ensure content readiness and stakeholder review at regular intervals, ensuring up-to-date course content at all times. I created and set up access levels and role-based permissions. I prepared and delivered reports to the business on adoption and use. I led ongoing, proactive communication efforts to encourage a culture of learning.  I served as the main point of contact for the business units using the LMS, managing the daily efforts of addressing issues and maintenance operations of the system.

Project Management

I am a highly organized project manager with experience using AtTask, Wrike, and other project management tools to manage all my projects. I have the skill to handle resources, timelines, budget and scope while ensuring high-quality instructional design.

Consultation

I have experience consulting with project stakeholders to incorporate technical content and schedule requirements into the overall design process and in making key recommendations for content that will meet specific program requirements while adhering to adult learning best practices.

Vendor Management

I have managed several vendor relationships over the years; acting as a liaison between the company subject matter experts and the vendor when customizing content. I have led language translation and localization efforts as well.
